    Publishers Summary

Miranda Vaughn has spent the last year and a half fighting for her freedom. Arrested for a fraud scheme involving her supervisors, she's lost her job at a prestigious investment firm, her fiancé, and her reputation. She walks out of the courtroom a free woman, only to find that life has a few more curve balls to throw her way. The jury may have found her not guilty, but Miranda is broke, in debt to her beloved aunt, and can't find a job because of the cloud of suspicion still swirling around her. She's not going to be able to move forward with her life until she finds out who set her up.

Buried in the evidence against her, Miranda finds a larger scheme, one involving far more money than the $37 million her boss fleeced from unsuspecting investors. Determined to uncover the truth, Miranda begins her own investigation - leading her to Macau and Belize, and into the arms of one sexy FBI agent, who may or may not prove to be trustworthy. When the danger heats up, Miranda finds herself in a race against time to find the person behind it all. Before he finds her....

    My Review

This is the first book of a new series and what a start! This story pulls in the reader from the very beginning where we meet poor Miranda while she is helping out her lovely aunt by working in her bakery. Her former high powered job in the world of finance is gone, her reputation has been tainted leaving her virtually unemployable.

Miranda decides to find the truth, she just has to prove herself totally innocent in order to regain her self respect, peace of mind and, of course, a job.

This is high energy stuff, careering along with adventure and excitement all the way, there's some incredibly smart computer stuff going on, who knew what goes on in the world of finance? Sometimes, in a first book, laying the foundations for a future series can be a bit overdone which detracts from the story, but here, the author did this well. Also, the uglier side of human nature is well described, reminding us that we don't always know those who are close to us as well as we think we do.

Thoroughly enjoyable, I look forward to the next Miranda Vaughn (I keep wanting to write Vaughan!)

    Narrator

Teri Schnaubelt is a talented and experienced narrator and this shines through her work, but I particularly admire the way she portrays emotion without overdoing it, I can't bear an "actressy" performance. Great pace and rhythm delivered with a lovely crystal voice. Very polished gender changes and characterisations, each one as distinct and individual as the characters themselves, excellent narration.

This audiobook was provided by the narrator at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com.
